Diamonds
Diamonds are world-wide known and principally the hardest natural minerals. Diamonds are also the third hardest compound at all and diamonds are acid-proof. Diamonds are crystalline form of the carbon element (C). They are forming in the crust of the earth (in special effusive rocks) in high temperatures and pressures. Diamonds are mining out in mines, but they also can be fabricated artificially. Those are very expensive and they are used in optics and electronics. The use of diamonds is mostly in jewel-making – for distinguishing of the optical characteristics are diamonds grinding to the polyhedrical shape, so called brilliant. Diamonds are also used for making tools for cutting and drilling, so they can be used in industry.
